Junior Division Results








First Place: Mina Park, violin
Mina Park, age 16, began violin at age 8 and is a student of Leonid Keylin. From 2005 to 2011, Mina has been selected as top prize winner of numerous competitions, in-
cluding The Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside, American String Teacher Associa-
tion, Music Teacher National Association, Seattle Music Teacher Association’s Simon-
Fiset, and National Young Artist Competition with the Coeur D’Alene Symphony. Mina made her debut at age 9 with Seattle Festival Orchestra. She has also been a soloist with The Sammamish Symphony and The Seattle Symphony. She is currently a member of The Academy Chamber Orchestra.



Second Place: Josie Cheung , violin
Josie Cheung is 13 years old and an eighth grader at Brightwater Waldorf School in Seattle. She started playing the violin at the age of 4 with Sharon Miller at the Suzuki Institute of Seattle. Josie joined the Pressley Violin Studio in 2006 and studies with Margaret Pressley. She has been the recipient of a Dorothy Richard Starling Scholarship since 2010. Josie also
is a student at the Seattle Conservatory of Music. This past summer she attended the Meadowmount Music School in New York and studied with Jan Mark Sloman. In her spare
time, Josie enjoys reading, laughing with friends, and playing the bag pipes.






Third Place: Hana Cohon, cello
Hana Cohon, age 15, has studied cello with Leslie Marckx for the past six years. This past summer she studied with Hans Jorgen-Jensen at the Meadowmount Music School. Hana has won awards in the Seattle Young Artists Music Festival, MTNA, WASTA, and Performing Arts Festival Eastside. She is currently a member of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. Hana goes to school at the Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, where she is in the 10th grade. A Special Thank You to adjudicators Tam Osborne and Dr. Maria Sampen and to WASTA Competition
